Conversion Kit 7x to convert a Fanatec Gaming Steering Wheel to USB

You will find that the PCB used in your kit looks slightly different as we are moving over to a new revision labeled 7.20 on the PCB.  Electronically they are the same but the shape has changed slightly to make it easier to remove if needed.  The V7.20 PCB should also work with the Simube Hub.

Product description:

Convert your Fanatec gaming steering wheel to USB so that it can be used with a different wheelbase.

Fanatec steering wheels will only work on a Fanatec wheelbase without modification.  Our conversion kit allows these wheels to be used via USB.

The kit includes everything needed including a coiled USB cable and a selection of bolts.  Simply remove the Fanatec Quick Release from your wheel and replace with the conversion kit.  Then add a Quick Release of your choice or bolt it direct to a wheelbase.

We have designed every aspect of the conversion kit to provide a unique and high quality product for you.

Using our own custom made Printed Circuit Board the conversion will allow your PC to send and receive data from the Steering Wheel.  This allows all of the steering wheel inputs to work (Including buttons, switches, joysticks, hat switches, rotary encoders, rotary switches, gear shifters and clutch paddles).  You can control the wheel features using Fanatec drivers and software (including Displays*, LED's and Clutch bite point)

• No telemetry data is available on displays.

What does the kit work on?

Please look at the compatibility tab for a full list of compatible wheels.  Basically the kit will work on all Fanatec gaming wheels that have the removable QR.  Only older wheels where you have to open the wheel to remove the QR are not supported and require the 5x Lite kit. There can be exceptions to this where we have not been able to get a newer wheel to work, so do check the compatibility tab.

Because the kit connects via USB it does not matter which wheelbase you want to use.  It will work with anything.  The only aspect you need to consider is how to physically attach the conversion to the wheelbase.

Our conversion kits only work on PC not console.  They use Fanatec drivers and software.

You cannot use a converted wheel on a Fanatec wheelbase.  If the Fanatec software sees two wheelbases (the conversion kit appears as a Fanatec wheelbase) then it cannot cope.

Supplied in the kit:

• High Quality anodised Aluminium case.
• USB input PCB attached to the case.
• Conversion PCB ready to push onto the wheel pin plug.
• USB C coiled cable.
• Pack of bolts.

Future proof:

As we continue to develop the conversion kits our desire is to be able to offer a wireless version that will not need a coiled USB cable.  This is something we aspire to and it may not get there, but just in case there are a few additions to the 7x case to help with this.

You will see a plastic insert on the top.  This is designed to allow a wireless signal to get out of the case.  Aluminium blocks this signal, so having a small plastic insert should solve this.

Below the USB cable is a threaded hole in the case.  This is to allow a wireless antenna to be fitted to the case should that be needed for improved wireless data transfer.

In simple terms fitting the kit is as simple as:

• Remove your existing QR1 or QR2 from the wheel.
• Attach the coiled USB cable to the case using our clamp
• Bolt the Case to you wheel using the QR bolts removed above
• Attach the 4 pin cable to the conversion PCB
• Carefully push the conversion PCB onto the wheel pin plug.
• Attach your chosen QR

The 7x kit USB connection plug also allows attaching the Asetek QR system internally using our cable - supplied with the QR if purchased from us.
